Medium Integration Guide
The ZyVOP Medium adapter publishes formatted technical posts directly to your Medium profile or publication.
Authentication with Integration Token
- Log in to Medium.com.
- Go to Settings → Security and apps → Integration tokens (medium.com/me/settings/security).
- Under Integration tokens, enter a label (e.g.
ZyVOP) and click Get token. - Paste the generated token into ZyVOP Integrations.
How ZyVOP Formats for Medium
1. HTML Content Normalization
Medium does not accept raw Markdown through its API; it requires valid HTML (contentFormat: "html"). ZyVOP converts your Markdown into semantic HTML, wrapping code blocks in <pre><code> structures that render properly within Medium's proprietary editor.
2. Native Canonical Tags
Medium's post creation API accepts a canonicalUrl property. ZyVOP maps your primary article URL directly into this parameter:

3. Tag Limit
Medium allows a maximum of 5 tags. ZyVOP takes your top 5 tags and sanitizes them.
Medium Platform Limitation: Post Updates
The official Medium REST API does not support updating or modifying posts after creation. If you update an article in ZyVOP, your DEV.to, Hashnode, and WordPress articles will update in place, but your Medium article remains in its originally published state. To update a Medium post, make edits directly inside Medium's web editor.
