Your First Day on ZyVOP
Learn the few concepts and actions needed to go from a new account to your first useful result.
ZyVOP gives your technical writing a home and can send selected articles to other publishing platforms. You do not need to configure every feature before you begin.
Choose your first goal
Pick the path that matches why you registered:
| Your goal | Best first action |
|---|---|
| Publish something new | Open the web editor and save a draft |
| Bring existing articles | Open Manage Posts and select Import Articles |
| Publish to several platforms | Connect one destination in Settings โ Integrations |
| Build an independent publication | Read Publication and audience before configuring a domain |
| Publish from a repository or terminal | Start with Developer workflows |
A good first session
Create or import one article, review it as a draft, and publish it only on ZyVOP. Connect external destinations after that workflow feels familiar.
The basic publishing journey
Prepare an article
Write in the ZyVOP editor or import an existing article. An imported article is saved as a private draft, giving you a chance to check formatting and metadata.
Review the important settings
Add a useful title, excerpt, cover image, category, and tags. Preview the article and check the canonical URL before publishing.
Publish or schedule
Publish immediately or choose a future date. Your first public post may be available by direct URL while it is reviewed for search and feed discovery.
Distribute when you choose
Connect external platforms and select destinations per article. Publishing on ZyVOP and delivering copies elsewhere are separate actions.
Check the result
Return to Manage Posts to see article, review, and delivery states. Use Analytics after the article begins receiving readers.
Find your way around
| Area | What you use it for |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Account overview, activity, and shortcuts |
| Write | Create, preview, schedule, and publish an article |
| Manage Posts | Find drafts, scheduled posts, published posts, imports, and distribution details |
| Series | Group related articles into an ordered collection |
| Analytics | Understand article and distribution performance |
| Subscribers | Manage the audience that opted into your newsletter |
| Publication | Configure an independent publication and its presentation |
| Settings | Manage your profile, preferences, security, notifications, and integrations |
Three ideas that prevent confusion
Your profile and publication are different
Your profile represents you as an author. A publication is a separately branded site with its own domain, navigation, pages, and presentation. You can publish as an author without setting up an independent publication.
Review and distribution are different
ZyVOP review controls discovery inside ZyVOP. Distribution controls whether ZyVOP sends an article to connected external platforms. One can be pending while the other has a different state.
A canonical URL declares the preferred source
When the same article appears at several URLs, the canonical URL tells supporting platforms and search engines which location you prefer as the original. Check it carefully when importing existing work or changing your primary site.
