Write, Edit, Preview, and Publish
A practical guide to creating an article in the ZyVOP web editor and choosing when and where it is published.
The web editor keeps writing, article metadata, SEO, and distribution choices in one workflow. Start with the article itself, then configure only the settings that matter for this post.
Create a draft
- Open Write.
- Add a clear title and write or paste your article.
- Select Save Draft before publishing.
- Return later through Manage Posts.
Drafts are private. They can remain incomplete while you work, and they do not trigger external distribution.
Use the editor effectively
The editor supports ordinary rich-text authoring and technical content such as fenced code blocks, tables, Mermaid diagrams, math, embeds, and Markdown input. Use Preview in the editor header to see the reader-facing result.
For a complete format reference, see The ZyVOP Web Editor and Markdown & MDX Support.
Preview what can break
Pay special attention to code fences, wide tables, diagrams, embeds, and images. External platforms may support a smaller set of formats than ZyVOP.
Understand Publishing Settings
Open Publishing Settings from the editor header. The drawer has three sections:
General
Use this area for reader-facing article details such as:
- excerpt and cover image;
- tags, category, and series;
- table of contents and comments;
- publication timing and newsletter delivery; and
- AI disclosure and human review confirmation.
SEO
Use this area to check the search title, description, social preview fields, and canonical URL. A canonical URL matters when the article already exists elsewhere or will be distributed to other platforms.
Syndicate
Choose which connected destinations should receive this article. A destination must be connected before ZyVOP can deliver to it. Leaving every destination off publishes only on ZyVOP.
Prepare to publish
Before publishing, check:
- the title accurately describes the article;
- the opening tells readers what they will learn;
- code, claims, links, and images have been reviewed;
- the excerpt works outside the article page;
- tags and category match the subject;
- the canonical URL points to the intended primary source;
- selected distribution destinations are intentional; and
- the AI disclosure accurately describes meaningful generative-AI involvement.
AI-assisted and AI-generated articles require confirmation that you reviewed the complete article. See AI Content Disclosures.
Publish now or schedule
Choose Publish when the article should become public immediately. Choose a future date when you need a coordinated release. Scheduled articles remain in the Scheduled view until their release time.
Review the Scheduled Publishing guide for time and destination behavior.
Understand article states
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Private working copy; external delivery has not started |
| Scheduled | Prepared to publish at a future time |
| Published | Public on ZyVOP; review and external delivery may still have their own states |
| Archived or trashed | Removed from the active list and available for the applicable restore workflow |
Publishing does not guarantee immediate feed or search discovery for a post under review. Read Review, visibility, and canonical URLs for the exact distinction.
After publishing
Open Manage Posts to:
- open or edit the published article;
- inspect review and visibility messages;
- open distribution details;
- retry a failed delivery when the interface offers it; and
- view article analytics.
Editing a published article updates the ZyVOP copy. Updates to external copies depend on each destination's API capabilities; consult the relevant destination guide before assuming every platform can be updated automatically.
